Lodge St Johns New Right Worshipful Master Bro Allistair MaCrea, being congratulated by the Provincial Grand Master of Perthshire East Bro Ronnie Forbes, on the evening of his Installation. Ally is now in his second year of Office, and what a successful tenure he is having. On the social scene, the Lodges first successful venture, was the Quiz night,in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust, held on Friday 7th May, at Lodge St Micheal No 38. After a very close contest, the 192 team, consisting of Bro's Alistair MacRea, Dougie Harkness, Ronnie MacPhee and J.S.McMillan, were declared winners, resulting in a nice little prize each. Our thanks to the Brethren of 38 for a well organised, and well catered event. On 14th May 2010, the lodge held another very successful Bingo Tea in St Andrews Church Halls, where once again, our good friend P.M. Bro Charlie Roy called the numbers, ensuring a profitable evening for the Lodge. Special thanks to Bro's John G McMillan and Allan Lauder, and to everyone who donated prizes, food, and helped on the night. After a long wait of 11 years, the Triple Bowling Trophy, which was the lodges turn to host, was returned to Muthill, our winning team, consisting of Bro's Allan Lauder, Rab Finnie, Ronnie MacPhee, Ally MacRea, J.G.McMillan, and the Lodges Latest Lewis Bro George Lauder. Again we were all well watered and fed, the summer weather making it a very memorable day. Likewise, on 8th August 2010, the bowlers, consisting of Bro's Ronnie MacPhee, Allan Lauder, Ally MacRea, and J.G.McMillan assisted the Provincial Grand Lodge of Perthshire East in winning the Provincial Bowling Cup at Dunblane. The Walter Stuart Trophy, saw the team pipped in the final, by a very on form Alyth side. Bro's Allan Lauder and John G McMillan then went on to lift the Honours at the Nomination Pairs Competition, held at the Coldwells Road rinks. A special thanks must go to the Lodge Bowling Convenor, P.M.Bro Allan Lauder for his organization and commitment to the off season Bowling Itinery. 29th August, saw our intrepid golfers Bro's Peter Shaw and Dougie Harkness participate in the Rheay Memorial Shield Competition. No success here, but another great day of sport and social harmony. 6th May 2010, heralded another hugely successful belated Burns Supper, were everyone was treated to the highest standard of Burns Works. The Lodge thanks colin for the Haggis, John G and Allan for doing Taxi, sandy for his music, Andy for his ' Tam O Shanter ' and everyone who supported and took part on the evening. It is these fund raising nights which allow the Lodge to continue dispensing Christmas Benevelence, and charitable donations throughout the Year. Unfortunatly the Lodge had to relinquish the bar Licence, held since 1953, as the fees incurred under the New Licensing Laws, made it untenable. But the upside is complimentry drinks are dispensed to the thirsty after meetings. The Lodge continues to flourish both socially and Masonally, but members old and new will always be made most wecome at 40, Willoughby Street.
